how do you decide which products to review?

Well, mostly of the products are things I already own or have come across while wondering through Sephora. The rest are usually items provided to me for review by companies for free. If i received the product for review, I will always (not just because it’s required) disclose the same to you.

How long have you been blogging, and what inspired you to start?

To be honest, I have been blogging in general since high school (circa: 2002) and kept up with it across platforms like Blogger, LiveJournal, Zanga etc. through mid-college. I started to try to get into niche blogging in 2008 when I started working in cosmetics at Macy’s but this is WELL before people knew how to make money on the Internet and my skills were minimal.

Eventually, after missing the first waves of successful beauty bloggers, I decided to give it a try again now armed with WAY more resources than prior (and more makeup). I am still trying to find my space but have always loved sharing my fave products and teaching my friends new things. This just seemed like the best way to go about it.

What kind of camera do you use?

When I am feeling up to it, I am usually use my Nikon D5300 with a Nikon AF-S DX VR Nikkor 18-55mm lens. A lot of the time, I am using my iPhone because Snapchat takes the best pics (haha). I have yet to invest in a ringlight but if you have any recommendations on good ones, let me know!

Do you have any advice for new bloggers?

Just like with anything else, practice makes perfect. Having a routine that you follow every day helps when trying to be consistent.

For me, setting up templates and calendars reminds helps me to get things organized. I have been working on my workflows to best utilize the little time I have daily to hone my craft and storytelling.

Be patient with yourself. It is easy to beat yourself up when you set your expectations for what success looks like but remember that sometimes things are not under your control and you just have to trust the process.

Do you blog full time?

If you actually follow my blog, you know that I don’t. LOL. I have been having a lot of trouble with the consistency but it is my dream at this point. Get paid to put on makeup, talk about makeup and write about makeup and then just like, play with my fur babies Jaxon and Bagherra. Maybe one day…hopefully soon.
