Introduction

So I got another new foundation to try out thanks to the lovely people from @Influenster!

I picked my shade based on the liquid Maybelline FITme! Foundation (affiliate link) that I received a few months ago (check it out here) I assumed that this shade would work just fine since I loved it previously. I was mostly right but we will talk about that in a bit.

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Powder Foundation (affiliate link) is meant to cover like foundation but is lightweight and breathable with a shine-free finish. This foundation is available in 8 shades.

Application

Per usual, a reminder that following a skincare routine is important and you can check out my skincare routine, click here. This time I tried a different cleanser that I received in my June Play! by Sephora box, The First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (affiliate link).

I prepped my face with my Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (affiliate link) and applied it to my face allowing some time for it to settle in. I applied it with my hands to avoid it being soaked up by my beauty tools.

My Impression

The Good | Super lightweight coverage and barely noticeable. This is an ah-mazing foundation for that barely there look and great for daily wear. I have oily skin and usually my skin starts to produce oily, especially in this Arizona heat, almost immediately. No issues thus far with this foundation, very mild oil on the surface and while I could feel the oil on my face, you could barely see it.

The Bad | Just as with the Maybelline FITme! Foundation (affiliate link), I was worried most by the shade and this time I was a little let down. The powder went on WAY to light for my liking. After some contour and highlighting, I loved the powder a lot better.

The Ugly? | The only thing about this product I did not like...the packaging and the name. "Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Powder Foundation...Looks like your skin, only better" is upsetting on so many levels.  I think my skin looks just fine without makeup and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Blemishes, acne, discoloration, tone and all. It is a message I do not like AT ALL. Now I get that it may be fine for some people but makeup for me is fun. I do not use it to hide my imperfections or pretend to be someone I am not. I do not like the idea that a brand easily accessible to young women and men that have yet to truly fall in love with who they are are being told that there skin is "okay" or "below par" and can now be "better." Maybelline Superstay Powder Foundation is sufficient enough for me.
